Welcome to the Learning Tool for Political Science (PLS). The purpose of this guide is to collect helpful resources for use during study help, as suggested by students, peer tutors, & instructors. Find links to helpful websites, study guides, and other helpful content.

Study Tips

  • Focus on Terminology
  • Try to connect present policy with historical origins
  • Try to argue both sides of a policy to figure out why people might feel passionately about it
  • If you are triggered by arguments of an opposing side
    • switch to active listening
    • take notes on what you are feeling
    • take notes on what you think they are saying & why
    • ask open-ended questions instead of arguing
    • find an appropriate place to share your opinion, like a class assignment
    • don't just disagree--explain why
    • try not to use logical fallacies
