Why Use Statistics?

"There are lies, damned lies, and statistics."
—Mark Twain

Numbers and statistics are powerful pieces of evidence that can effectively strengthen any argument or research question.

You want your data, however, to come from reliable, objective, and authoritative sources such as from these various entities of the Federal Government. They produce data and statistics based on extensive research and review. Publishing  this information on the web allows it to be continuously updated and readily available and  to all.
