AGRICULTURE AND COMMUNITY HEALTH INTERNSHIPS
Check each summer for new internship options
Program description
We use sustainable agricultural practices to produce a diverse array of vegetables year-round in our two hoop houses and outdoor space. Vegetables are provided to patients and frontline healthcare workers at our hospital and numerous clinics, distributed through our St. Joe’s Farm Share program, and sold at local markets. The Farm Share is a collaborative “community supported agriculture” program, which sources fruits and vegetables from local farms and provides weekly boxes of produce to over 200 participants. A section of the program targets families experiencing food insecurity, and weekly share distribution includes educational components related to food preparation and nutrition. In addition, as a response to COVID and the food needs in our community, we've expanded our programs to reach more families and individuals experiencing food insecurity in our COVID Food Assistance Program.
