Library and Learning Commons (LC) Item Requests

This guide provides information on requesting, picking-up, setting-up, and returning borrowed items from the Library and Learning Commons.

LC Tech Requests

Learning Commons Tech Equipment Check-Out

Requirements to borrow: 

  • Must be a registered WCC student for the current semester
  • Must be registered for at least 3 credit hours

In person requests:

  • Requests must be made in person.
  • Stop into the Learning Commons Lab on the 2nd floor of the Gunder Myran building.
  • Go to the main desk in the Learning Commons Lab, a lab associate will verify your eligibility.
  • If you meet the eligibility requirements above and there are available items, the items will be checked out to you on the spot and you can take them with you immediately.
  • If you meet the eligibility requirements above and there are no items available, you will be placed on a waiting list and notified by email once items are available.

LC Tech Renewal Request

Need to keep that tech for the next semester? We can help! 

Send an email to: LClab@wccnet.edu

Include:

  • Your name
  • WCC Net ID or WCC email address
  • Item(s) you would like to renew

LC Lab staff will respond to let you know if you meet the eligibility requirements for renewal. If you meet the requirements your item will be renewed for another full semester. If you do not meet the renewal requirements for tech borrowing, you will need to return the item(s).

Steps to Request Library Items

Please note: At this time library item requests are only available to current WCC students, faculty and staff. 

Step 1: Go to Bailey Library Homepage: https://www.wccnet.edu/library/

Step 2: Select the Catalog link or go directly to the Catalog here:http://wcclib.wccnet.edu/uhtbin/cgisirsi/x/0/0/49

Step 3: Search the catalog and select "Place Hold" to request item. 

Step 4: Enter your WCC Net ID and Password- that way we know who requested the item! 

 

Other things to know:

  • Need help finding an item in the catalog? Ask A Librarian! 
  • Holds automatically expire after 7 days- meaning library staff have 7 days to find an item on the shelf. If we can’t find it you will be notified within 7 days that your request was canceled.  
  • When staff find your item you will receive an email in your WCC email account. It will list the items to pick up with additional contact-free pick up instructions.
  • We do our best to process requests as quickly as possible, but it may take up to 3-5 days before you receive a pick up notification email due to limited staffing on campus. 
  • Items not picked up within 14 days of the pick up notification email will be returned to the collection and made available to other students, faculty and staff. You will receive an email in your WCC email account notifying you the hold was canceled.

If you are not currently registered for one of the Math courses listed below there are a limited amount of graphing and scientific calculators available for semester loan. 

Eligible Math Courses

WCC Students currently registered for the current semester can request a graphing calculator for use the entire semester if enrolled in an eligible Math course.

Notification:

Cancel a Request

How to Cancel a Hold Request

No longer need that item you requested? No problem! There are several ways you can cancel hold requests. 

 

Cancel hold requests through your Bailey Library Account

Step 1: Log in to your Bailey Library Account with your WCC Net ID and Password. 

Step 2: Select "Review My Account"

Step 3: Select "Holds" to view all the items you have requested.

Step 4: Use the check box to select the item requests to cancel. Then select "Cancel Selected Holds" buttons at the bottom of the list. 

You will receive an email at your WCC email address confirming your canceled hold request. 

 

Cancel hold requests by contacting the Bailey Library 

Contact a Bailey Library staff member to help review your library account and cancel your hold requests.

Cancel hold requests by replying to your Pick Up Notice email

Reply to the Pick Up Notice in your WCC email for your requested item. In the reply message let the Bailey Library staff know that you no longer want to pick up the item.
