Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing

Assignment:

The student must write a paper in APA format in Arial font 12.  The paper should have the name of the procedure being done, why it is being done, and their thought on the procedure.  The body of the paper should be set in a case study format on a procedure they scrubbed in on.  Example: A 42 year old female presents to the operating room for an open appendectomy. 

Research: 

1. List the type of Anesthesia used
2. The position of the patient,
3. Where the skin is prepped and draped, then start the procedure step by step. 
4. State the incision used, which instruments are used on each layer, and suture for each layer.  At the end, the type of dressing should be listed as well as the possible complications that need to be watched out for in recovery.
